Message from Chairman Lions Centennial Vocational Training Center (LCVTC)

It is with immense pleasure that I send this message on the occasion of the launching of the Web site of the Lions Centennial Vocational Training Center (LCVTC).

Youth and youngsters are the backbone of our society. They provide energy, ideas and bring in potential investment into society. To strategize the importance of facilitating young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship, the LCVTC is an ideal Center to shed light on how the vocational training sector could play a critical role in equipping the youth.

This LCVTC is structured to assist the most vulnerable local communities, including women and youth to acquire skills, which is lacking at present. This would facilitate further development and be an asset to the nation and its economy. Hence, it is imperative to do the needful as expeditiously as possible.

Unemployed youth from underprivileged families, differently abled persons, and employees of companies based at Biyagama Industrial Zone and other corporate bodies are the target groups to whom these courses are offered on soft skills. Moreover tailor made courses are provided to differently abled youth for necessary skills to foster greener pastures and ensure resilience.

Today’s jobs are no longer routine; employees must have the ability to adapt to any challenges they might encounter. During economic downturns such as the global pandemic, the young generation will have to navigate an uncertain and changing job market. Therefore young people need ample practice in being given open ended, authentic experiences in solving a wide range of problems.

The LCVTC will make every endeavor to work towards generating a comprehensive society, which provides opportunities without any discrimination and for the empowerment of the visually impaired, disabled and underprivileged personnel. We look forward to strengthening this climate and request your unstinted support to meet the desired objectives.

Join us today to create a better tomorrow for the Differently abled, the Underprivileged and the Unemployed of our country and make them productive citizens of Mother Lanka.
